Freedom

Marion, I want to thanks you, from the bottom of my soul
For listening, teaching, helping me feel whole
The inspiration, courage, hope, from you a gain
As you poured out your words of wisdom, like the finest grain
Abundantly, on my parched and starving mind
Creating bursts of light through shadows once so blind
Enabling me to find a way, lay balm on my emotions
Long imprisoned and abused, those festering ill-bred notions
To see them and confront them for what they really are
Ghosts and Ghouls, powerless tools to hurt me from afar
I won't let them dictate to my life today, they are pat, long dead
As are all the diseased and cancerous, soul-less things they said

Only the Bones and memories linger
And I can "Crush" them in my fingers
Ashes to Ashes, dust to dust
Watch them go, live now and trust
Breathe in the new fresh, fragrant breeze
Free at last, weightless, truly at ease...
